🕒 3:00–4:30 PM UK / GMT
💻 Live Online – No Recording

Drawing from decades of clinical experience and her influential Addictive Process Triangle, Cece will guide you into:

  • How protective strategies show up in your internal system as a therapist
  • Where shame loops quietly take hold - and how to gently interrupt them
  • How to recognise early signals of overwhelm and over-efforting
  • Practical, IFS-rooted ways to return to clarity and Self-leadership
  • How to build a relationship with your own protectors that feels compassionate, not corrective
  • What allows you to be courageous, present, and attuned in the room, without burning out

This is a space for reflection, honesty, and grounded learning, held by someone who deeply understands the emotional, spiritual, and energetic demands of this profession.

What You’ll Learn

  • Applications of the Addictive Process Triangle in both client work and therapist self-care
  • Ways to interrupt shame loops, imposter feelings, and overidentification
  • Practical IFS tools to sustain self-leadership, confidence, and presence
  • How to create a more sustainable, courageous therapy practice

About Cece Sykes

Cece Sykes, LCSW, is a Senior Trainer with the Internal Family Systems Institute and a leading clinician, educator, and author in trauma, addiction, and psychotherapy.

Her clinical work spans decades — from working with abused children and families in Chicago to supporting adults, couples, and therapists internationally. She is the co-author of the bestselling Internal Family Systems Therapy for Addictions and has contributed to foundational texts on IFS and the addictive process.

Cece is known for her warm, compassionate teaching style and her deep ability to support therapists in understanding the personal impact of this work. She guides practitioners not only in technique but in the emotional, psychological, and spiritual grounding required to practise IFS sustainably.

Co-Hosted by Sarah McGowan

Psychodynamic counsellor (OXON, Dip. Dist.) and IFS Level 3 trained, Sarah first encountered IFS in 2015 as a client and has been taught extensively by senior IFS trainers since. Her work with Cece has been deeply formative, shaping both her personal journey and her therapeutic practice. Sarah is delighted to host this workshop.

This Is For

This workshop is designed for IFS-trained therapists and practitioners who love the model but sometimes struggle with the lived reality of doing deep emotional work day after day.

This is for you if:

  • You sometimes leave sessions unsure, drained, or doubting your impact
  • You notice your own protectors taking over in subtle ways
  • You experience imposter feelings even though you are trained and competent
  • You slip into overworking, perfectionism, numbing, collapsing, or rescuing
  • You’ve felt isolated, comparing yourself to others
  • You want to feel more grounded and confident in the room
  • You long for a compassionate space to make sense of your own internal system as a therapist

If you’re an IFS graduate, therapist or practitioner wanting to deepen your clarity, capacity, and confidence — this workshop will meet you exactly where you are.
