Meet The Hosts
Chris Burris, M.Ed., LMFT, LCMHCS, is a Senior Lead Trainer with the IFS Institute, joining in 1999, having been a psychotherapist since 1989. Chris teaches Level I, Level II, and Level III and mentors new IFS training staff.
Known internationally for his warm, effective approach, he brings clarity and compassion to working with Inner Critics.  We don’t see Chris much as he has transitioned to IFS group training and group consultation, so it is my privilege, pleasure, and a rare treat to offer this workshop.Â
"The presence of an Inner Critic can decrease our feelings of joy, spontaneity, aliveness, and often blocks our ability to know what we truly want in life. As well as ourselves, untransformed critics can also injure people we care about, and although their intention is to protect, their impact causes harm. Inner Critics often push us with fear, anxiety, and rigid standards. Your Inner Critic doesn’t have to hijack you, or your client." (Chris Burris)
Co-Host Sarah McGowan, psychodynamic counsellor (OXON, Dist.) and IFS therapist (L3), has trained extensively in trauma, addiction, and group facilitation.
Sarah has been steeped in the model since starting IFS therapy as a client in 2015 and beginning training soon after. Sarah is now proud to be part of the staff team supporting IFS Lead trainers as they meet the rapidly growing demand for IFS training.
She continues to run a private practice offering one-to-one and group therapy grounded in the IFS model.
Join us for this one-and-a-half-hour online workshop, which offers an opportunity to explore our harsh inner critics and the ways these Parts have learned to protect us.
The workshop is open to all who are IFS-informed, whether you would like to apply the learnings to your professional work, gain personal insight, or both!
